counter-

Counter-Balance

Designed to showcase the produce and proteins from the land around us, rather than perpetuate the unstable alternative.

Counter-Intuitive

Contrary to the common-sense expectation of service, but nevertheless true. Submerging guests with visuals, sounds, and feelings along with taste.

Counter-Culture

Opposed to the norms of the restaurant industry, promoting diversity and unveiling narratives that have been hidden.

The Experience

counter- is Michelin starred tasting menu concept by Chef and innovator Sam Hart. We are a story-driven dining experience focused on producing the highest level personal memory for guests, while showcasing our region in a singular composition. Owned and operated as a collective effort amongst employees with a shared mission to change the industry, counter- is designed to evoke emotion throughout the progressive dining experience, fully immersing guests by utilizing sound, taste, and art as a vehicle. The menu, which rotates quarterly, is driven by sense-based storylines such as music, modern art, and mental health.

The Design

Purposefully designed to mimic a blank canvas and features muted concrete floors and countertops that can easily be transformed to fit the rotating menus, tableware, and art that accompany each quarterly story-driven menu.

The Details

Similar to a theatrical performance, counter- is a shared experience with seatings Wednesday through Saturday. Seating is limited and reservations are required.

Wine and spirit-free beverage pairings are available.

Please be respectful of all parties during your seating. For special events, business dinners, and other large parties, our private dining room may be the perfect choice.

Certain seasonal themes may not be suitable for children under the age of 18, so please be sure to contact us in advance at reservations@counterclt.com.

The Beverages

We don’t call ourselves match-makers, but we do have the perfect pairing for every course.

We put the utmost care into curating the perfect pairings for each theme and menu. The beverage program, led by Beverage Director Michael Myers, is proud to feature a diverse offering that includes female, LGBTQ+, and minority winemakers, alongside a thoughtfully curated spirit-free pairing option.
